ROSSIO at Internacional Congress Turismo, História e Património: Compromissos com o futuro

On the 1st to 3rd of July, will take place the International Congress Turismo, História e Património: Compromissos com o futuro

This initiative is the result of a partnership between História, Territórios e Comunidades, a pole at NOVA FCSH of the Centro de Ecologia Funcional – Ciência para as Pessoas e o Planeta – of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra; Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril; Instituto de Geografia e Ordenamento do Território – UL; Fundação António Quadros – Cultura e Pensamento; and Câmara Municipal de Cascais.

This congress seeks to reflect on different tourist gazes and new travel practices focusing on different themes, such as the history of tourism, tourist representations and practices as ideological instruments, tourist landscapes: between tradition and modernity, heritages of tourist attraction, ethics and sustainability in contemporary tourism practice, innovation, good practices and social responsibility in tourism and digital tourism.

The Infrastructure ROSSIO research team – Marco Roque de Freitas, Gonçalo Melo da Silva and Luís Henriques -, will take part on one of the pannels and present the communication “ROSSIO platform: potentials of a digital tool” (Plataforma ROSSIO: potencialidades de uma ferramenta digital), on July 3rd, at 2 pm (Lisbon time). This communication aims to highlight the usefulness and potential of the Infrastructure for tourism professionals who develop itineraries and visits to monuments and sites, allowing them to further diversify the themes of guided tours.

In the ROSSIO infrastructure, cultural tourism professionals and entrepreneurs, as well as researchers and students, will have access, on a single platform, to numerous and diverse resources for free, as well as a set of credible data to support research.
